About Yari
I am a junior in high school and French is my first language. Since I live in the U.S, my parents wanted me to take French lessons in order for me to understand French academically instead of just verbally. I did 1st through 3rd grade in a French-speaking country in West Africa, and I continued my French education when we moved back to the U.S. At the moment I'm in my last year of French and will be taking the International Baccalaureate Exam in May. I have completed French 1- 4, and have taken two years of online lessons for heritage speakers of French at Middlebury College. I also have experience in tutoring different languages. I have tutored French speakers in English.

I am a student just like you and I know how difficult learning a language can be. I've learned 2 foreign languages and have had a lot of trial and error. Which I'm grateful for because it's enabled me to work out an effective and fun system.
Methods -
Active Recall - Active recall is a great way to differentiate what you remember and what you don't remember. Instead of taking notes, you write down questions for you to answer later about what you're learning about. This is a lot more stimulating than taking notes and forces you to come back later and review. It is great for memorization. We also use flashcards in the active recall process.
Blurting - I love blurting, which is recalling all that you remember from what you've learned that day on a piece of paper. This helps to enforce what you already know and are comfortable with.
French Media - Consuming media in French helps with auditory comprehension and accents. In the process of singing along to songs and watching French movies, you get used to hearing French and recognizing vocabulary.
