About Elodie

Je m’appelle Elodie !
I’m 35 years old, french but feeling mostly like a citizen of the world and I love culture in general, reading, theatre, cinema, music, and get to know other country’s culture and traditions.
After few years in theatre field as a teacher and actress, I graduated as a french teacher with the best honors in 2018 and started to experience teaching in Marocco for few month. It’s in Latvia that I really started my career as a french teacher with all audiences and different levels. I was also able to offer theatre lessons in french, to develop a curriculum for cinema lessons and to give phonetic classes, grammar support classes and to animate a book club there ! During Covid, I’ve been offered a position at the french embassy in Latvia as a cooperation attaché for french language, which allowed me to work on the teaching condition, the needs of the learners and the updating and modernization of courses for the french institute but in all the french schools and classes in the country.
From a curious and dynamic nature, I moved in Darwin, Australia in 2022 to become the headteacher at the Alliance française of Darwin before moving to Melbourne where I work as a teacher and School and Event Coordinator.
Teaching being a true passion for me, I really care to integrate all the richness of French-speaking cultures and European values into the classroom. In this sense, I like for exemple to use different type of media and work tools coming from the entire Francophonie world. With my experience in theatre, the contribution of a theatrical side to the language course allows me to go a little further in the action-oriented approach and allows me to offer learners a real learning experience. I for example, develop and setting up a simulation course of the Council of the European Union for senior Latvian officials.
After Covid and the current situation in Ukraine, I feel today more than ever the need to be as close as possible to learners and to share new other political and cultural contexts. I look forward to being able to teach and bring together a cosmopolitan and international linguistic community with respect, tolerance, good humor and friendliness !

About the lesson

Native french speaker, I used to work in Marocco, Latvia and now Australia in the past 5 years mostly in Alliances françaises or Instituts français. I also worked as the cooperation attaché for french language at the French Embassy in Latvia. I’m open to face to face private tuition, groups, online classes and I also propose some classes « in situations » : for exemple, every now and then, I love (if you feel like it) having a class in an uncommon space, like a coffee place or even a museum ! I’m giving lessons for kids starting 5 years old to everyone else (teens, adults) no age limit and all levels combined !
The classes can last an hour up to two, otherwise it is sometimes a lot to take !
After having a brief presentation of each other, and getting to know what are your needs and / or expectations, the idea is to make you learn every-day french, from listening, reading, speaking and writing, with an accent on prononciation and on the cultural background to understand as well the french traditions, history and way of life !
With me, you’re the main actor of your own learning and I’m here to give you all the tools and support on your journey to go where you wanna go, on your side !
