Music Theory from a Published Music Theorist! Composition, Arranging, Counterpoint, and more!

Not every saxophonist is an instructor. Jeff Brent is an experience musician who plays many different instruments including the
saxophone. When I connect with him for my saxophone lessons, he is well prepared to teach me. I feel hopeful that in the year 2026, I will grow immensely because I have found the right teacher for myself.

Jeff is a uniquely talented teacher. You will learn to play that instrument, and you'll learn cool tricks along the way that no one else would teach you.

Its been really great taking lessons with Jeff. I feel like Im learning practical skills, not just doing repetitive exercises. He has been very accommodating of my
sometimes crazy schedule, and the improvement I see week-to-week keeps me excited for the next lesson. Jazz, blues, improv skills, jamming with other people,
real-world playing, Jeff will get you in shape!

Jeff is a great communicator. He is passionate about music and teaching. I very much appreciated his time and experience and learned a lot in a short time. I
highly recommend Jeff and look forward to taking lessons with him again.

Working with Jeff has been great fun! Corrected some bad habits & learned some solid base skills right away. Hes got an incredible depth of musical knowledge
and an easy teaching style - even with the challenges of Zoom & remote teaching, its easy to learn from him. Jeffs helping me develop into a better guitar player,
not just a guitar collector.

Im a working adult and trying to take up an instrument. Jeff was awesome with instruction and working with my busy schedule. I highly recommend Jeff to anyone
looking to learn an instrument.

I am a 46 year old who has never played an instrument before. The first time I picked up my fiddle I seriously doubted that I'd ever be able to play anything.
However, with Jeff's instruction, I can read basic music and play a handful of recognizable songs (within 2 months). Jeff has a relaxed, but professional style. His
knowledge of music theory is vast and experienced. I'm excited to continue learning with Jeff.

We are the same age, so our exposure to music from decades ago allows us to quickly communicate with examples that make sense to us. His vast experience
allowed him to quickly establish my skill level and zero in on techniques that I need help with. Zoom can be challenging at times, but again, Jeffs experience quickly
got me sorted out. I am very glad to have obtained his services, and highly recommend him to others.

Hes a seasoned and experienced teacher who has very good background in music, which enables him to teach not just how to learn chords and notes, but how to
fingerpick play from the heart.

Jeff knows his music theory and explains it in great detail. For a beginner guitar player he makes it fun to play. He definitely knows his country and has great tips.
Awesome experience

Jeff is very knowledgable about music. He doesnt just try to teach out how to play songs in order to satisfy your immediate desire to play guitar. He teaches the
fundamentals of music so you can potentially play anything you want. Ive played guitar since I was a teenager (Im 35 now). After all these years I can finally play a
decent solo and jam out with a backing track. Ive never been able to do that before! Im still getting the hang of it and its hard to find time to practice with my busy
schedule but even with the little time weve spent together I can confidently say that my playing has improved.

I have only had about 4 lessons to date with Jeff. I find him to be very thorough . He makes everything very clear so I can understand to the best of my ability . I am
75 so it takes me somewhat longer to grasp and sink in things than it would for a younger person. I have a lot of faith with Jeff and I believe if the time were to come
that Jeff felt that I was taking on to much or wasting his time as well as mine he would be open and honest in telling me. I find Jeff to be very easy and caring to
work with. He has the knowledge, education and experience that one would enjoy learning from. I just hope I am able to meet his expectations. Thank you. D. Gwyn

Jeff is a fun and easy-going teacher who has been excellent in teaching me to play violin. I really enjoy his emphasis on improvisation and learning music like a
language to better express oneself. I feel like Ive been able to make a lot of progress in the short amount of time Ive been taking lessons with him.

Learned new items every session such as the importance of muting to achieve a clean sound. Learning to play what seemed at first to be a simple song actually
revealed many advanced techniques to work on.

Jeff Brent is an amazing teacher of guitar. I was currently learning electric guitar and his first meet-up makes our mission and goal together very clear. He listens to
me and asks me what I want out of guitar learning which helps improve our further growth together. He will further explain how we should learn the guitar and why
it has to be played step by step a certain way. Music is a universal language and the fundamentals are very important when playing the instrument. He definitely
cares about his students and I can not recommend him enough!

Jeff is very cool and an amazing musician. He is well studied and teaches in a laid back style that is like visiting a friend!I had a very narrow focus on what I wanted to
study with my instrument and Jeff accommodated me and taught me some techniques that I needed!

Jeff is extremely knowledgeable and my daughter took to his vibe right away. His experience alone speaks about his talent and his teaching style is well received by my
daughter.

Very knowledgeable, relaxed pace, positive attitude, attitude of encouragement, patience with the technical issues of the virtual classroom, and Im learning a lot from him.

Jeff is knowledgeable in many instruments, style, and music theory. He has traveled and performed in many countries and understands cultural nuances. In addition, he is warm, humble, and patient. He is fair with his scheduling and pricing. My only regret is having to cancel on him due to unavoidable life changes. Ill go back with him when I am able.

Very precise guidance both musically and on the mechanics of instrumental play. Jeff has wide knowledge of music genre, a deep understanding in the harmonica, and he communicates especially efficiently. Knows his stuff and has been very helpful to me.

Jeff has been so kind and patient with my daughter and her violin lessons. We had previously taken a nine month break after her last instructor and Jeff has been able to make music fun again. You can tell he's not just passionate about music but about helping others to love and appreciate it as well, which in my opinion is what makes a great instructor.

Jeff is not only an incredibly talented musician, but an awesome teacher and person. I started out with no piano experience and he got me up to speed quickly, especially on improv. His teaching style is very easy to respond to. I had to take a break for life reasons but will be back as soon as possible! Thanks Jeff :)

Mr. Brent tailored the lessons to individual needs and skill levels, providing personalized feedback and guidance that helped me progress at my own pace

Does a great job at connecting with me. He's really knowledgable in music and the way he teaches makes every step forward a lot easier process. He's patient and knows how to adapt to each student to get the very best out of them.

Jeff is an extremely talented, knowledgeable multi instrumentalist who also has the gift of being a patient and entertaining teacher.. in the time that I have spent with him, I have not come away from one session that has not, in varying degrees, improved my understanding of and playing ability on my instrument.

Jeff is gifted in teaching all types of instruments and theory. I signed up for learning violin in jazz and blues style and I am so pleased I did! Jeff uses multiple strategies to encourage and challenge me in our lessons! I’m so glad he is my teacher. He is a skilled musician and an intuitive teacher.

Jeff was my tenor sax instructor. He was also the bandleader of Hot Rod Deluxe a horn band that covered a wide variety of material from Motown to the Beatles. Jeff provided the band with all their charts. I have also had the opportunity to work with Jeff in the studio where he was the musical director and keyboard player. He is also the author of a number of excellent music books that are standard at campuses like Oberlin. Whatever the instrument, piano, guitar, reed or string, Jeff brings a skilled background and proven professional skills that will make any musical instruction an exceptional and fulfilling experience.

I cannot recommend Jeff Brent as a music instructor highly enough! From the very first lesson, it was clear that he not only possesses an incredible depth of knowledge about music theory and technique but also has a genuine passion for teaching. I’ve gained a lot of confidence in my abilities from working with Jeff.

I have know Jeff for many years and we often played live music together all over SoCal. He is an outstanding musician, multi-instrumentalist, often writes arrangements to fit the lineup including horn parts, and expresses things in a way that others can understand and relate to. Highly recommend!

Jeff has been my music teacher for years now. If you're hesitant about taking lessons because it's hard to vet what you'll be getting out of it, I encourage you to go with Jeff because he never left a stone unturned. He's also personable and responds quickly to any questions I have. You'll be getting much more out of it than you think, so don't hesitate. just do it. Trust me!

Jeff was my tenor sax instructor. He is very knowledgeable and a great instructor. Jeff was very patient and understanding. He has an incredible background in music and is multi-instrumental. Two big thumbs up for this instructor.

Jeff is the best. He started teaching our eldest daughter a year ago. Like most kids, she has given up instruments along the way or not clicked with their teachers. Jeff is different - she looks forward to classes with him every week and actually practices between them! In fact, Jeff is so good that I now have him teach me bass guitar. So we go from her class, straight on to my class - and we look forward to that every week!

Our familey has been blessed to have Jeff as my sons music teacher . Jeff is patient , always punctual and understanding . Jeff has got my son able to jam on gutair. He teaches multiple Genres and styles. We are happy that Jeff is in our family.

When I decided I needed a specific type of music teacher to match what I wanted to learn, Jeff stood out to me. He is a professional musician who can also teach creatively. Every lesson with Jeff is inspiring. He uses clear, well-planned teaching techniques to guide me in each week's learning goals. I can feel my confidence and my instrument skills develop steadily. Jeff is encouraging and gives me constructive feedback. We always start and finish each music lesson with positivity and I'm so glad he is my teacher!

Jeff has been my teacher for over 2 years, a music store here in Vista, CA gave me a card to connect. He's an extremely knowledgeable musician who knows more about music than most, teaching me to play without reading notes. I feel he's very even keeled, non-reactive and always has an answer to my questions. He makes learning fun and creative too, and I always look forward to my lessons.

Jeff is a phenomenal instructor. His ability to structure his lessons to my skill level surpassed my expectations. Great instructor/great person.

Jeff is an amazingly wonderful guitar teacher and musician. He has been providing my son with lessons for the past 7 years. We started taking my son to lessons with Jeff at a local music store, then once the pandemic the lessons became virtual, which was actually a great shift, because now while away at college he can still have lessons with Jeff. If you are interested in an instructor who is patient and has a vast background in music and beyond I would suggest working with Jeff.
