About Alex
I am a music producer and musician who specialises in left-field electronic music and drum and bass. I've played music in some form for 20 years and have a master's degree in sound for the moving image from the Glasgow School of Art. My own music which I release under the name "Whytwo" is a mix of drum and bass and electronica very influenced by both jazz, minimalist classical music and soundtrack which has been released with highly established electronic labels Hospital Records and Blu Mar Ten Music. I am very passionate about music and production and love going into depth about the different approaches we can use to get our ideas across in the electronic world which is where my enjoyment for teaching the subject comes from.

I teach based on the tailored needs of whoever wants lessons, whether that be a complete beginner who wants a very broad and general introduction to music production, to very specific and advanced sound design and composition techniques. I also offer feedback on tracks and mixes along with advice in one-off sessions. I have both an undergrad and master's degree in sound production/design as well as label distribution and vinyl releases of my own music. My private lessons/feedback have helped many people start their production journey with many ending up with label releases but have also been useful for visual artists/musicians who just want to dip their toes into electronic music.

Perfect! Alex asked where I felt my mixing was lacking and gave me a ton of useful tips and tricks to fix them. I found his knowledge on both the theory and practise of mixing extremely insightful and practical. He's given me the tools I needed to take my mixing to the next level! Really nice guy, would highly recommend!
