About April
I am an MA Music graduate from Durham University with a Grade 8 Distinction in flute, and a genuine passion for music and creativity. I was fortunate to learn from inspiring music teachers who shaped not only my playing, but also my confidence, discipline, and enjoyment of learning. That experience is a big part of why I want to teach. I would love to pass on that same sense of encouragement and fulfilment to others. I aim to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel motivated, confident, and excited to progress.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual goals, whether you’re working towards grades, learning for enjoyment, or returning to the flute after a break. I take time to understand what you’d like to achieve and structure both lessons and practice accordingly. You’re welcome to bring pieces you love, or I can recommend repertoire suited to your level. I aim to create a supportive, relaxed environment where questions are always encouraged. Mistakes are a valuable part of learning - my lessons are a safe, judgement-free space focused on building confidence and progress.
