About Thomas
Hi, I'm Tom and am a guitar tutor. I have been playing guitar for the past 10 years and am looking forward to helping you in your journey to mastering the guitar. My favourite genre of music is classic rock; however, I enjoy all styles of music and would like to play and teach you any style you like. I have done music throughout my entire time in school, from GCSE to A-Levels. During these years of practice, I have also recently become a music tutor to help new players who may be struggling with the guitar to get better and learn even more about music and the guitar, which I hope I get to give to you during our lessons.

For beginners at the instrument, I like to begin by showing them the fundamentals of the instrument. For example, how to correctly hold a guitar, basic open chords, and some simple strumming patterns. I also incorporate basic music theory and implement some ear training. I encourage regular practice with beginner guitarists and ensure that the lessons are fun and creative for the student. For intermediate guitarists, I expand their knowledge of the chords of a guitar and guide them in the right direction to master the fretboard. We look at barre chords and introduce more complex chords and techniques. Some of the new techniques which I introduce and refine for the student include pull-offs and hammer-ons which are very beneficial to know when playing guitar. I also introduce more complex music theory and the concept of modes in music.
