About Charlie
I am originally from Devon, where I played with the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, an organisation renowned for high-quality jazz education. After five years, I left to go to Leeds Conservatoire. As a graduate, I play professionally in the Leeds music scene, leading my own original project and in other musician's bands. I also frequently travel around the country for professional function work.
My teachers over the years have been so inspiring and encouraging, enabling me to pursue the music I love to play. I now want to pass on my own knowledge and passion to give other people the opportunity to enjoy music the same way

Not sure if saxophone is for you? I have a student model saxophone I can bring to a taster lesson so you can find out!
In the first lesson, we will establish your goals and I will assess where you are with your musical journey.
From here, I will develop a plan for you to achieve long, medium and short-term goals; whether it be playing your first tune, improvisation, or just making a sound!
Areas of focus will include:
- Tone, projection, stamina and control
- Fluidity across the range and in different keys
- Reading and interpreting music
- Developing repertoire, exercises, and routine for practice, to ensure you reach your goals.
I believe that learning an instrument is most fulfilling when it is lead by your interests and tastes, and infused with a structured plan to apply theory, technique, and musicianship in a practical manner.
No two people learn in the same way, so I will adjust my teaching to make sure you're getting as much as possible out of the lessons.
Together, we will develop your knowledge, ability and most importantly, passion for music!
