About Imogen

Hi! I'm Imogen and I have been playing harp for over 20 years and teaching students for 7 years. I am based in South East London and teach my students at their homes, via Zoom, or occasionally at my house.

Education/Qualifications:
- Trinity Laban, Master of Music, Distinction
- Oxford University, BA Music
- Junior Guildhall
- Enhanced DBS Check (2026)

Teaching Experience:
- Teacher of Harp at Felsted School
- Performer and teacher with Mini Mozart
- Students receive Distinction grade in ABRSM exams (100% pass rate)
- Students range in age from 5 - adult learners

Performance Experience:
- Perform on lap harp, lever harp, and pedal harp
- Solo performances for events and recitals
- Freelance with orchestras
- Perform Anatolian folk music with Gulseven Medar Quartet
- Competed in wind orchestra category at international World Music Contest
- Commissioned and performed new contemporary harp music
- Performed at Elgar Room (Royal Albert Hall), King's Place, Southbank Centre, Barbican Centre and more

About the lesson

My teaching practice is highly tailored around the individual needs of my students. Here are some examples of what I have covered with my current and past students:

- Basic to advanced harp technique
- Reading sheet music and understanding of music theory
- Learning by ear
- Orchestral harp tutoring
- Singing and performing harp
- Focus on specific music genre of interest e.g. folk, hip hop etc
- Preparation for ABRSM exams
- Chamber music tutoring
- Basic improvisation and composition

Underlying all my harp lessons is a deep love of music and teaching. I approach all my students with an open mind and positivity.

I use an iPad Pro as part of my teaching. This provides clear camera quality for my online teaching. I also use ForScore to store my large library of harp music. This allows me to annotate music for my students and share music freely.
