About Yuyang

I have an undergraduate degree from Royal College of Music, graduating first class (BMus Hons). I started studying music at quite young, but never found my passion in it until my late teenage years. Now music is such an integral part of my life and well-being, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experiences to support others on their musical studies. As a teacher I am very flexible and can adapt to how you want to learn, I also take a creative approach to teaching piano so that my students develop their musicianship and composition skills while learning the piano.

About the lesson

As a composer, I always bring elements of music theory and composition into my piano teaching, so that my students can develop their musicianship and creativity while improving their piano playing skills. My teaching philosophy is that the most important aspect of learning music is to find one’s interest and passion in it, and my goal as a teacher is to support my students and help them find their passion in music; however, I am familiar with the ABRSM examinations and have a Grade 8 certificate myself, and I always tailor my lessons to different students based on what they are looking for.

Perfect! Excellent first lesson. Yuyang"s teaching approach was motivating and educational both practically and theoretically. Yuyang was very good at identifying and improving my poor playing technique, with clear explanations. The lesson was fun too and I enjoyed playing both a duet and solo pieces.

Perfect! My boys are really touched by his natural kindness and honesty.
He would go extra miles for the students with an eye for details, and his motivation, passion for music is making a very positive contribution towards the boys.
He is not the most experienced tutor I have ever had, but surely the most impressive in terms of his teaching method and dedication.

My music theory is really bad and none of my previous teachers could or cared to explain much, I also tried online videos but it’s boring and still confusing at times, Yuyang was able to explain complex concepts in simple terms and demonstrated with examples which really helped me understand the foundation of music. Highly recommended teacher for long term
