About Gene

Composer Gene Pritsker has written over 1000 compositions, including chamber operas, orchestral and chamber works, electro-acoustic music, songs for hip-hop and rock ensembles, etc. All his compositions employ an eclectic spectrum of styles and are influenced by his studies of various musical cultures. He has orchestrated major Hollywood movies, including 'Cloud Atlas', for which he wrote additional music and composed his ‘Cloud Atlas Symphony’ (released on nEscapes Records in 2022), as well as, ‘Perfume, Story of a Murderer’, ‘The International’ Starring Clive Owen (directed by Tom Tykwer), ‘Anamorph’ Starring Willem Dafoe, ‘Killer Elite’ Starring Jason Statham and Robert De Niro, ‘Hologram for a King’ Starring Tom Hanks, ‘The Darkness’ starring Kevin Bacon, and ‘Jungle’ starring Daniel Radcliffe. He is also the lead orchestrator for such TV series as Babylon Berlin, Jett, Netflix's Sense8 and Messiah. Gene is the lead orchestrator and has additional music in the 2021 film The Matrix Resurrections. He has orchestrated major Hollywood movies, including 'Cloud Atlas', ‘Perfume, Story of a Murderer’, ‘The International’, ‘Killer Elite’ Starring etc. He is also the lead orchestrator for such TV series as Babylon Berlin, Jett, Netflix's Sense8 and Messiah. About the lesson

This lesson, led by composer Gene Pritsker (orchestrator for the Matrix resurrection, Babylon Berlin, Cloud Atlas) , introduces students to the integration of composition, technology, film scoring, and orchestration. Students will explore creative techniques for writing original music, apply digital audio tools for production and mixing, analyze film scenes to compose expressive soundtracks, and orchestrate for diverse ensembles. Through guided exercises and real-world examples from Gene’s extensive catalog, participants will learn to merge traditional composition methods with modern electronic and cinematic approaches, developing a personal style that bridges genres and media.
