About Karla

Hello, my name is Karla. I am currently a Registered Nurse (RN) and have experience tutoring prelicensure students on all nursing courses. I have my master's in nursing education and have experience working as an RN on a medical-surgical floor that specializes in stroke patients. As a nurse, my knowledge specializes in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology. I am also a native Spanish-speaker, proficient in medical terminology in English and Spanish. My work experience has given me the privilege to interpret and translate for my Spanish-speaking patients as a medical professional.
As a nursing student, I graduated with honors from my nursing program in 2015 and passed the NCLEX on my first attempt with 75 questions. Now, I am an experienced RN and have background education of higher-level anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, and nursing courses. As an RN, I have performed many tasks, including neurological and head-to-toe assessments, medication administration, wound care, interpretation, and patient education. My role as an RN has fostered a deeper understanding of the human body and its functions, fine-tuned my critical thinking skills, and nurtured my compassion for improving one's quality of life.
My experience and knowledge gained from teaching, working as a nurse, and from my master's in nursing education program have prepared me to facilitate student learning and utilize methods that help students succeed.

About the lesson

My goal is to help learners master difficult concepts by customizing the teaching to meet the student's needs and learning styles. To facilitate student learning, I become familiar with the student's learning goals, incorporate various teaching modalities, simplify difficult concepts, make the lessons enjoyable, and most importantly, listen to the student.

Perfect! Karla is a great tutor! She has a vast amount of knowledge in every subject in nursing. She is so kind and patient. She listens to you and challenges you by asking you questions when reviewing the various subjects. It helps you critically think and fill the knowledge gaps you may have. She also has a lot of resources that will help you during your studies. Karla helped me gain the confidence to conquer the NCLEX NGN after failing the first time. I could not have passed without her help! I definitely recommend her as a tutor!
