About Isaac
My primary research interests are in the evolution of complex animal behaviors. I am especially interested in signaling mechanisms and sociality in animals. I have spent three field seasons studying a variety of different taxa in very different ecosystems. My master’s research investigated the evolutionary causes and consequences of territoriality in odonates (dragonflies and damselflies). In addition to my scientific experience, I am an international-level Sprint Canoe athlete. I am a nine-time National Champion, a gold medalist at the 2017 Jr. Pan American Championships (Ecuador) and 2016 Olympic Hopes competition (Hungary), and represented Canada at the highest international stage for my age (2017 Jr. World Championships, Romania).

My teaching philosophy is to spark engagement in the topics. Learning is a lot easier if the student is interested in the topic! I will be able to patiently offer constructive feedback to develop clarity and precision in one’s writing.
My aim is to develop critical thinking skills and curiosity - critical traits for success any academic subject. Lessons are tailored to the level of the student. I teach all grades.
