About Zhenya
Hello! My name is Zhenya. (That's zh like the 's' in the words usual, or vision).
I'm a master's graduate in geochemistry from the University of Toronto, with a great deal of teaching and research experience in the field. My work has explored the eruptions of ancient volcanoes, the environments that Jurassic dinosaurs lived in, and the presence of liquid water on Mars. I've taught students from the elementary level to undergraduate university, and have practical experience in academic and professional scientific environments. Above all, I love finding new ways to explore and to communicate about our natural world.

I'm passionate about teaching and talking about science - so much so that I went and got two degrees in it. My specialty is within environmental and earth science, but I'm comfortable explaining a wide variety of scientific concepts, from the Big Bang to the inner workings of a cell.
I'm looking to teach science at the middle school or high school level, and I aim to accommodate my students' interests, needs, and learning styles as much as I can -- whether it's with practical demonstrations and experiments, observations from the natural world around us, or through creative activities and applications. My goal is to not just teach to a curriculum, but to foster a lifelong love of science, curiosity, and critical thinking. I truly believe that science should be accessible to everyone, and I'd love to work with you to make that happen.
