About Maria
Hi! I'm Maria. I hold a BSc in Biology — genetics and molecular biology — and an MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Vienna, where my research was in computational drug discovery. My home ground is molecular and cellular: genetics, biochemistry, pharmacology, and how a medicine actually gets found and developed.
My lessons fall into four groups:
School students, middle and high school. The foundations — cells, genetics, human biology, ecology.
IB and A-Level Biology students. Especially the Higher Level topics that turn into mechanism: genetics, metabolism, cell respiration, molecular biology.
University and pre-med students. Molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology and pharmacology. Bring your lecture slides, your problem set, or the exam you have been avoiding, and we will work through the real thing.
Adults moving into pharma or biotech. You do not need a degree to understand the concepts. We build the biology from the ground up.

As a biology tutor, I use a variety of teaching methods, such as discussions, presentations, and quizzes, to ensure that my students understand the material. Typically, a lesson begins with an overview of the previous topic, followed by an introduction to a new topic and exploration of the concepts. I create a supportive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and addresses individual needs. My lessons are aimed at students at different levels, from middle school to university.
