About Patricia
As a Spanish native speaker, I have always found it interesting to teach my language to others. It is a joy to see how quickly one can learn a language if they have the right guidance. I feel that my experience studying in a multillingual school and being brought up in a family where English and Spanish were mixed allows me to explain the language in a way that makes sense to English speakers. Having volunteered to teach English to Spanish-speakers in Guatemala and having tutored 5 different pupils, I understand how to make learning fun and insightful. I have worked with students aged from 9 to 60 years old. Through tutoring, I hope to not only provide help and assistance with anything the student needs but also to motivate them to enjoy learning the language.

I like to employ video and online resources, as well as encourage games adapted to different age groups. I find it best to ask students what they feel they need help with, be it vocabulary, grammar, etc., and find innovative ways to make them understand. For instance, I like teaching vocabulary in the context of a story or a video, never on its own. I feel that language needs to be taught as a whole, never as a sum of its parts.
