About Angel Maria

Whilst working at multiple schools as a Teaching Assistant and Teacher since 2018, I have been responsible for helping with lesson plans, monitoring students, maintaining students records and assisting students with study skills and special assignments. My experience is working with children in a range of ages from Reception to KS2. My most recent role as a Teacher Assistant was working with a Year 3 and Year 2 class. This involved helping students with Maths and English tasks at Reception/ KS1 level, students under Year 2 level and general support with the rest of the class with a list of different interventions such as phonics decoding, numeracy skills, guided reading, reading for meaning. That gave me the knowledge about the National Curriculum and the understanding of the TA role within the class and organising my own material for those students with a level below that expected for a Year 3/ Year 2 student. In those classes diversity played a large part as few children were diagnosed SEN others were in reception/year 1 level and some of them under the expected year level, also the classes were a mixture of different backgrounds. When studying for my degree I had a subject called “Educational Diversity and Inclusion: Didactic Implications” related to deal with learning barriers, I passed this subject with Excellent A, and for 4 years I have been studying child development from the age of 6 until the age of 12 (that means during the Primary education term). One of my strengths subjects is Maths. When I was a student I hated Maths, problem solving always gave me headache. The problem was the way my Teachers used to teach this subject. We should “swallow” the way to solve everything without understand what we were doing. My motto to teach Maths is “Make Maths funny, make Maths a game, tell a story”. I like to create resources from scratch and I enjoy to have the pupils involved, as much as they can, in the development of this resources. My experience tell me that if you create something you are more willing to play with it and therefore learn without be aware you are learning. Also Art is an important part of me as a Teacher.
In my previous position I supported the teacher with the evaluation of students with special needs. I supported a part time TA when interventions are needed with some of the students, organising the activities and training the TA in how to use the resources (e.g 5 minutes box). I have an excellent knowledge of new technologies and I received an excellent A (9.75/10) on “ICT in Education” during my degree and I do not mind implementing them in the classroom. I have previous experience of being a First Aider while working at IBIS Budget and happy to take this training again. As a Spanish citizen English is not my first language. I work everyday to improve my use of English. My communication skills are good enough for the School environment. I always find a way to express my self in all kind of situations ( with students, parents, colleagues) and always happy when someone correct me. Human beings always learn from their mistakes.
