About Tyler
I hold a bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology. For the past 7+ years, I've worked as a laboratory researcher, using techniques like flow cytometry, qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and cell culture in real research settings. I currently work in a role reviewing data and reports in a regulated lab environment. Teaching and mentoring others is part of my job. I've spent many years mentoring and training people in lab.
Beyond my technical background, I genuinely enjoy teaching. I've always found that the best way to really understand science is to see how it connects to the real world. I try to bring that perspective to every lesson. Whether you're catching up on a tough class, prepping for an exam, or just want a stronger foundation before moving on to the next course, I'm glad to help.

My approach:
I love using real examples and finding fun, relatable ways to explain things. Your brain holds onto information better when it's tied to something real and meaningful, rather than memorizing facts. Before diving in, I like to figure out exactly where you're struggling so we can build our time together around that, instead of a generic, one size fits all lesson.
A typical lesson:
We start with a quick catch up on how things are going and what's tripping you up. Then we dig into new material or practice problems together, using examples that make the concept concrete and memorable. We wrap up with a clear idea of what to focus on next.
What sets me apart:
I spent 7+ years doing hands on lab research, so I love connecting textbook concepts to real experiments. Science is genuinely fun, fascinating, and amazing once it clicks. That's the kind of learning I aim for: understanding that sticks, not cramming that fades right after the test.
Who it's for:
High schoolers in AP or honors bio, college students tackling biology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, or cell biology, and anyone gearing up for an exam in these subjects. I'd love to help!
