About Bara

I am a friendly and experienced languages tutor with a strong academic background and extensive international experience. With a First Class Degree in Modern Languages and having lived and taught in the UK, USA, Chile and Germany, I enjoy getting into the nitty gritty of grammar, but also like to offer engaging conversation lessons and teaching through immersion. I have a range of experience working with children and can provide a valid enhanced DBS check on request.

About the lesson

Hi there, my name is Bara and I like to use my extensive international experience to help my students learn by immersion, so you will be using the language right from the start, be it English, German or Spanish. I love to adapt my teaching to suit your learning style and have used games, newspaper articles and song lyrics in my past lessons. I have helped my students write letters to their friends abroad and even write and practise their wedding vows in their partner’s first language. I like to get to know my students, so that I can offer materials that will make learning attractive and always adjust my lesson plans to your individual needs - standardised school exams (A-level, GCSE, IB), language certificates (Goethe Zertifikat, IELTS or DELE), or if you just want to learn a couple phrases before your holiday abroad.

I have been tutoring English, German and Spanish for 6 years now and have a First Class Degree in German, Spanish and Linguistics, during which I spent a semester studying in Chile and almost a year working in Germany. I am a certified English as a Foreign Language teacher and have worked at immersion summer camps for children and residential courses for adults in France, Germany, Poland and Hungary. Fun fact: I am also a qualified circus instructor with experience teaching both children and adults, which allows me to use games and a variety of teaching methods in my lessons.

Usually, lessons would be an hour long, once per week, but I am always happy to increase the frequency before an important exam or trip abroad. I teach all ages and levels, so don't hesitate to message me with the subject and level you’re looking for and any special requests and I will get back to you as fast as I can! :)
