Sometimes working smarter and not harder is the way through school and a real door opener for your future. Sometimes we can feel like working harder is our only option. I have a different approach to teaching that helps students recognize what works and what doesn’t for them, what to prioritize, and what to let go.

I have seen firsthand the needs of this generation’s middle schoolers, and I have years of teaching experience that I use daily in the school setting. Most students who struggle in middle school give up when they realize their foundational deficits are holding them back from learning new skills. When handwriting prevents note-taking, spelling and grammar prevent essay-writing, and basic computation prevents mathematical reasoning, students often become discouraged. These same students often are the most intelligent individuals. But intelligence is separate from these skills, and I am dedicated to helping children see this and learn the skills they need to be - and feel - successful.
