About Celine
I am a native French speaker currently completing my ECT2 induction year and I hold a BA (2:1) in French and Spanish, which has provided me with strong subject knowledge and a secure understanding of language acquisition across both disciplines. Throughout my ECT1 and ECT2 training, I have developed a solid foundation in effective pedagogy, strengthening my skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and adaptive teaching while cultivating a reflective and analytical approach to my practice. I am committed to continual professional development and consistently seek innovative strategies to enhance student engagement and progress. For example, I have implemented interactive games, role-plays, and digital tools to encourage students to speak confidently in French, carefully evaluating and refining each approach to maximise impact.
In the classroom, I deliver engaging French lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, developing students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in line with the National Curriculum and the new GCSE specifications. Recognising that many students initially lack confidence in speaking the target language, I foster a supportive and purposeful environment where mistakes are viewed as an essential part of learning. By celebrating effort and encouraging language use beyond the classroom, I help students build fluency, independence, and resilience. I differentiate effectively to support SEND, EAL, and higher-attaining students, ensuring that all learners are appropriately challenged and able to reach their potential.
During my teacher training programme, I taught Key Stage 3 Spanish, planning and delivering lessons that developed students’ foundational grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skills. I am keen to contribute to French at Sixth Form level. I have a strong understanding of the A-Level curriculum, particularly the importance of developing students’ analytical and spontaneous speaking skills. I volunteered to support students’ speaking development at Northgate High School and, during my training at Farlingaye High School, I gained valuable insight into preparing students for advanced-level oral assessments. I would welcome the opportunity to further develop my experience within KS5 teaching and contribute to strong outcomes at this level.
Alongside my teaching responsibilities, I serve as a form tutor, supporting students’ academic progress, personal development, and wellbeing. I monitor attendance and punctuality, deliver structured tutor-time sessions, and build positive relationships with students and families. I contribute actively to wider school life through lunchtime supervision, Year 11 GCSE intervention sessions, detentions, and lesson cover where required. During the previous academic year, I played a key role in supporting our GCSE cohort at a time when the Head of French was absent for five months. Through collaborative planning, targeted interventions, and consistent high expectations, our department achieved 80% of students attaining grade 5 or above in French GCSE (2025) — the highest results the department has achieved to date. I am extremely proud to have contributed to this success, which reflects resilience, teamwork, and an unwavering focus on student progress. My ECT training has reinforced the importance of safeguarding and pastoral care, and I am confident in providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment in which students can thrive.
