About Rachael

I am currently studying to become a French teacher through a Masters degree at the University of Melbourne. I have completed placement with a class of each of year 7s, 8s, and 9s. I learned French through high school right here in Australia (and then followed it up through uni and several trips to France), so I understand which concepts are the most difficult for Australian students and how to help explain these concepts to ensure every student achieves the best results possible.

About the lesson

My lessons are geared towards students across all the year levels of French taught in Victorian high schools. A typical lesson will include the introduction of a grammar concept, consolidation of that knowledge through targeted activities, followed by a listening exercise and/or speaking practice. I have over a year's experience as a French tutor and have previously taught students from Years 9, 10, and 11.

I am happy to tailor lessons according to the Victorian Curriculum and review topics that have been recently covered with students in class. I can also help out with understanding of homework assignments or look to future topics which students may like to work ahead with.

I believe learning French should be dynamic and accessible to all students, and offer differentiation based on the specific learning strengths of each of my students. I absolutely LOVE French and the best way to ensure your students are passionate about a subject is to be passionate about it yourself, which I strive to put across in all my lessons!

Belinda’s son has a great grasp on grammar in the two past tenses we have covered so far: l’imparfait and le passé composé, and he is always keen to make sure he understands concepts fully before moving on. He is an excellent and enthusiastic student who I very much enjoy teaching!
