About Harrison
After completing high school, I moved to the UK to pursue university-level studies. There, I studied biology at the University of Edinburgh, with a specialization in Immunology. During my undergraduate years, I developed a profound desire to become a lifelong learner in the field of biology. Moreover, my childhood passion for art and design was reignited. These dual interests led me to pursue a career in biomedical communication. Upon completing my bachelor’s degree, I enrolled in a master’s program in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy, jointly offered by the University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art.
Over the past years, I've worked in biotech start-up companies to create biological animations, illustrations, and pitch decks. I've also worked with researchers to transform their findings into graphical figures. One particular project close to my heart was designing graphical figures on neutrophil development in zebrafish for Henna Myllymaki. It was a thrill to see our work later published by The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology (iJBCB) as part of a review paper, with a pretty impressive impact factor of 5.65 after just a few months.
As a tutor, I am eager to share my knowledge and experience with students. I believe in making complex biological concepts accessible and engaging through visual tools. I look forward to helping you deepen your understanding of biology and develop a love for learning that will serve you well in your academic journey and beyond.
