About Isabella
As a dedicated medical student with a strong passion for mentorship and education, I have spent the past eight years honing my teaching skills to inspire and guide students toward STEM careers. My experience spans tutoring a wide range of STEM subjects, including biochemistry, biology, chemistry, psychology, reading, and math. At the University of Michigan, I further expanded my teaching expertise as a teaching assistant for a college-level neuroscience course. Currently, I am an English teacher in Valencia, Spain, where I continue to nurture students’ growth and development. My diverse background in education reflects my commitment to fostering academic success and confidence in my students.

Teaching Methods and Techniques:
1. Customized Learning Approach:
-Adapt teaching methods to match the student’s age, learning style, and current understanding of the subject.
-Use visuals like diagrams, videos, and hands-on experiments for younger students to make abstract concepts tangible.
-For advanced levels, I emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving through guided practice and Socratic questioning.
2. Breaking Down Complex Topics:
-Simplify challenging concepts into smaller, digestible pieces, building foundational knowledge before progressing to advanced material.
-Relate scientific principles to real-life scenarios to make lessons engaging and memorable.
3. Active Engagement
-Encourage participation by asking open-ended questions, facilitating discussions, and offering practice problems.
-Use engaging lesson plans, such as interactive games and quizzes
4. Reinforcement and Feedback
-Provide timely feedback to ensure students understand concepts and correct misunderstandings promptly.
-Assign short exercises for reinforcement and review objectives at the start and end of each session.
Typical Lesson Plan:
1. Introduction (5-10 minutes)
-Review previous material and outline goals for the session.
-Start with an engaging question or scenario to spark curiosity.
2. Main Lesson (20 minutes)
-Present new material through explanation, examples, and interactive methods (e.g., experiments, simulations).
-Use guided practice for problem-solving or concept application.
3. Practice and Application (20 minutes)
-Work through practice problems or case studies with the student, gradually increasing difficulty.
-Encourage the student to explain their thought process to solidify understanding.
4. Wrap-Up (5-10 minutes)
-Summarize key takeaways and answer questions.
-Assign light homework or provide resources for further practice.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:

3. Passion for Science Education: I strive to ignite curiosity and confidence in students, fostering both subject mastery and a love for lifelong learning.
4. Strong Communication Skills: My ability to explain intricate concepts in a clear and accessible manner helps bridge gaps in understanding.
Who the Lessons Are For:
1. Elementary Students: Basic science concepts, interactive lessons using everyday examples.
2. Middle School Students: Introductory chemistry topics (e.g., atoms, molecules), and interactive lab simulations.
3. High School Students: Advanced topics like stoichiometry, periodic trends, and preparation for standardized tests (e.g., AP Biology).
4. College Students: In-depth lessons on organic, physical, or analytical chemistry tailored to their specific coursework or degree requirements.
This structured, adaptable, and engaging approach ensures students at all levels not only improve academically, but also develop confidence and enthusiasm for science!
