About Maral

I’m a medical student with a genuine passion for biology and teaching, which is one of the reasons why I chose medicine. I’ve always been fascinated by how the biology concepts form the foundation of my current medicine course.

Having recently completed my A-levels with A* in biology and also A* in IGCSE biology, I understand firsthand the challenges students face and the revision strategies that work best.

Alongside IGCSE back in my high school, I also completed the biology course in the Turkish curriculum at the same time, achieving a final biology grade of 100%. This has given me insight on different teaching techniques and has made me adaptable to different curriculums and exam boards.

Throughout these years, I naturally found myself helping classmates and younger students understand biology topics by introducing my own shortcuts and memory techniques. Seeing other students grow in confidence and results with my advice motivated me to begin tutoring.

My main goal has always been helping students feel confident in applying their knowledge to the exam questions, with my clear and supportive teaching style, tailored to each individual.

About the lesson

Biology has always been my favourite subject, and I understand that it can feel complex and confusing for a lot of people, which is normal !

This is exactly why I developed my own simple, effective shortcuts and memory techniques to break things down clearly and help students understand and remember complex topics. I specialise in OCR A A-level biology but I can certainly support other exam boards as well.

Before lessons, I like to know the topics you would like us to cover in order to make sure I prepare the right materials.
Initially, I try to find out what is causing the struggle, then explain the theory with simple drawings, diagrams and memorable shortcuts. To make sure the knowledge sinks in, I then introduce exam style questions on the topics for the students to solve. We go through them with me afterwards, allowing me to clarify any misunderstandings or confusions. I find this extremely useful to make students more confident in applying their knowledge to the questions.
However, I am always happy to adapt to what works best for each individual.

I can also offer multilingual lessons in English, Turkish and Persian if needed.
