About Michelle

Hello, I'm Michelle! A 2nd year medical student at the University of Leicester, who has achieved four A-stars in A Level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology. My aim is to support students through the steps of medical school applications and make them seem less daunting. Having achieved highly in my studies and scored 3470 in the UCAT (in the top 5 of all scores for my application year), I've learnt how to best navigate the resources available and I hope to get to know you and share the best tips with you! While I have gained some experience from tutoring in the past year, I believe each person is unique and I will do my best to learn from you and adjust my approach accordingly. I enjoy seeking out opportunities to connect with current and prospective students, which has led me to become part of the student union at my sixth form and now an ambassador for the medical school. I am thoroughly enjoying my studies at university, especially when it comes to haematology and genetics. Outside of academics, I have a vested interest in creative pursuits such as writing and drawing, alongside general photo and video editing which I have employed in designing posters for projects. In addition, I've begun learning how to code, which is challenging yet rewarding!

About the lesson

• 4A* in A Level Chemistry, Maths, Biology and Psychology • 3470 B1 UCAT (top 5 nationally) • 100+ tutoring hours across 1:1 sessions and small groups • Extensive experience tutoring for the UCAT and running mock interviews • Tutored A Level Chemistry, Maths and Biology It can be difficult to navigate exactly what needs to be learnt to achieve the marks in exams, or the techniques to apply to ace admissions tests. In a 1-hr session, I focus on learning what works best for each student, and then streamlining the needed information into high-yield exam technique. These are aimed at students currently in Y12 or Y13, focusing on Chemistry, Biology and Psychology. Moreover, when tutoring for the UCAT I focus on breaking down complex questions and suggesting methods for each subtest, adapting to what the student needs. Following from this, I have further mentored in medical school interviews; I do my best to research the universities the student has received an interview from and then formulate sessions with a mixture of practice interview questions and more general discussion based tasks to stimulate lateral thinking. I have also successfully run mock interviews after which I gave detailed, question by question breakdowns of each answer, both verbally and in a document.
