About Mariella
Hello, I am Mariella, a friendly medical student at the University of Oxford. On top of my medical studies I have also received a degree in medical sciences from the University of Oxford. I really enjoy teaching children, and have taught many people in the past. This includes teaching a 2-year-old boy in Germany English, creating teaching programmes in Mauritius, and working at my school's after-school club. I moved schools a lot growing up, which greatly disturbed my education, including moving to countries where I didn't speak the language. This means that I am in the rare position of having experienced what it is to be both one of the best and one of the worst students in a classroom. Whichever someone may be, I'm here to help them reach their full potential and become confident in their own skills.

I tailor my lessons to the ability, age and personality of the child, including their ability to concentrate. Lessons will usually feature going over homework either their school or I have set, followed by the teaching or revision of a new topic. Depending on the age and ability of the child this may include using songs to learn. This will then be followed by us going through some questions together. Lessons will then conclude with a fun subject-based game, so that the child will not only learn to be comfortable with the material but also enjoy their extra lessons! My experience teaching children is extensive but a highlight of my career would be when I travelled to Mauritius for two weeks to work at a children's charity there. Here I developed a remedial maths class programme for children aged 4-6 and 8-12. The classes have been very well received and the charity has decided to continue the programme long term using my structure and written guidance. My lessons are 1 hour long and are aimed at school children aged 4-12 years old. Subjects included are Maths and the Sciences.
