About Steve

I am a final year medical student studying at St George’s University of London. I have done a previous degree in Neuroscience (BSc) (Hons), for which I received a First-Class Honours. As a medical student, I have learnt that as a doctor, you are not just a scientist but a teacher to your patients. Information giving is a key part of your job, and you must ensure that the patient is able to understand what you are explaining. I want to approach my teaching in a similar way as well, where I will break down complex scientific concepts into simple terms, finding a way that works best for my tutee. I have also been working part-time as a cashier in Tesco since 2008. Balancing part-time work with my full-time education has helped me develop excellent organisational skills and I hope to help my tutees with managing their time as well. I don’t have formal teaching experience. However, I have taught numerous revision sessions as part of neuroscience representative to younger years. Currently, I am a clinical skills peer tutor, which involves teaching students in younger years how to perform clinical examinations and take histories from a patient.
