About Emma

Have self- studied exams from an early age-
-taught myself GCSE human biology 2 years early achieving an A grade
-15 A*/A grades at GCSE
-A A's in A level (Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Music)
-Extensive experience in teaching biological principless to struggling peers
-Very proficient at explaining complex biological principles in a simple, easily understood manner (as a medical student, we commonly have to explain complex conditions to patients quickly so I have had a lot of expperience with this)
-DBS and PVG certified (certification to work with children and vulnerable groups)

About the lesson

I am very flexible in my methology- it will always be student led.

With this pandemic, and the likely-to-be inconsistant nature of traditional schooling, and the closure of libraries and study spaces, I think it is important to teach students effective self-study techniques and how to motivate oneself and maintain discipline with study- as this is ultimately what will make the difference between success and failure.

Therefore, my lessons will always include showing how to memorise and study each individual topic within the subject, as well as regular check-ins in-between lessons (if the student wishes). Additionally, I am more than happy to help a student draw up a revision timetable, if they so wish.

In terms of teaching the subject, I tend focus on exam and revision technique. I always make sure the student understands the fundamentals of the subject before moving further.

I also like to tutor holistically- I spend some time discussing the student's university/career aspirations and help them achieve their goals. As a successful medical school applicant, I have extensive knowledge in the medical school application process and am more than happy to help aspiring medics, as I recognise the process can be extremely challenging.

Most importantly, I am always willing to answer questions- that's how we learn!
