About Alex

Medical Student, with my goal as a teacher being to make students more passionate about Biology. This doubles as the most effective way to generate good exam results. In addition to tailor made lessons for each student, I will share tips and techniques of memory retention and study techniques that I implement myself and has revolutionised the way that I revise. 9A* GCSE, 4A* A-Level student

About the lesson

Lessons are structured around self-made exam board specific presentations and past exam questions. Sessions will be student initiated, I encourage all of my students to present me with topics/questions in advance of the lessons in order that they gain the most in the time we have. I will always provide a piece of science news related to the topic that we are covering in the middle of each lesson. This breaks up the lesson promoting engagement in the second half, and provokes curiosity and interest into real-world applications of biology which is the interesting part! One of the things that sets me apart from other tutors is my research into effective study techniques. Due to the nature of my degree being reliant on remembering large amounts of information I have done a lot of research into memory retention and have revolutionised the way that I personally revise to great effect, in terms of results and time spent. The tips and techniques that I pass on to all of my students are a transferable lifelong skill that apply to all subjects and all levels of study. I am available via WhatsApp any time throughout tuition to answer any queries from students, or any Biology related questions. I will also be happy to help with medical school applications in lessons. Outside Medicine I love to ski, I am on the committee of the ski society at Newcastle currently organising our annual trip for 1200 people! I also founded the AI Society which I am president of. I am also into all things athletics and rugby- I run long distance and play rugby for my local team. I take the work hard play hard approach to university and love to go out with my friends too!
