About Shailpriya

I am a Medical Student at Imperial College London and have always been passionate about teaching. Whether it is private tutoring of GCSE subjects or teaching primary schools about biology and nutrition, I have been engaged in the teaching field since my GCSEs. I try to incorporate various learning styles into my lessons to help the tutee gain 100% from their time and energy spent, efficiently and effectively.

About the lesson

I have previously taught children from the age of 4 to 18, involving 11+, GCSE Maths, Sciences, and English in companies, like Explore Learning, and private tutoring.

I always ensure that my teaching style is tailored to the tutee. This buds confidence in them towards their strengths and builds resilience to tackle their challenges, however small. My lessons last around an hour per subject and it involves interactive tasks to aid their memorization as well as practicing some exam-style questions with/without timing.

I normally spend the first half of the first session learning more about the tutee and what they want to gain out of the tutoring and how they learn the best and what they'd like to work more on. The second half goes starting a small topic for us to see whether they want me to be their tutor. Then should they want to continue, I will format the session according to them and we will take off with learning the basics/level at which they feel the most confident and then build on from there gradually. I also support space repetition, where I will be going two lessons back and making questions etc. as revision for their old topics so they stay in my tutee's long-term memory.
