About Serena
I am soon to start year 1 of the Graduate entry course at St. George’s in London.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting.
I completed A-level Biology and Chemistry (CAIE), an access to HE diploma in Allied Health, sat the IMAT (used to be for Italy), GAMSAT and UCAT, and completed 1 semester in a medical school in Europe.
I also took many individually graded courses in Psychology (cognitive, developmental, biopsych, social, etc.) as I always enjoyed it!
I’ve worked in many various roles and companies for many years including roles within Accounting. (I also sat interviews in the Big 4 accounting firms during my last year of uni - I still remember how I felt!)
I am always trying to find ‘the truth’ in things and I would consider myself an optimist! :)

I’ve sat quite a few medical school interviews (MMI and panel) as well as attended various classes myself, and gained some strong experience from the entire process (Including what not to do which is also extremely important!)
I’ve taught A-level biology and English lessons before and had to professionally train & supervise new colleagues at work.
——————
I’ve had the privilege of having many different teachers and professors in various subjects due to many years of higher education, and experience the variety of their teaching skills.
Teaching is a separate skill from simply knowing and even talking about the material and I think a big fundamental basis is having a strong understanding of your pupils and audience and how they will interpret what you say and how you communicate.
It is important to try to almost ‘literally’ put yourself in their shoes amongst thinking about when something was new to you or when you were in that particular stage in life, and what stuck, was high-yield, and what didn’t work at that time.
In that way, I think interactive lessons are so important. The pupil needs to participate. It helps things stick. Especially(!) in something like an interview course!
Due to the nature of this subject as well, it is of utmost importance to collaboratively tailor the lesson to you as an individual - how much time you have, what you want, your weaknesses, and so on.
