About Hlalanathi

I am an 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student at UCT. I have been tutoring Mathematics for the past 4 years, as a private tutor, is some companies and from time to time I volunteer to help in disadvantaged schools. My love for Mathematics grows from day to day and I live to inspire learners love Mathematics.

About the lesson

I work to create in our learners a genuine understanding of the subject. I believe when learners understand the content of the subject, they can always work around trying to solve any problem. This is because having a genuine understanding of the subject gives them confidence and that makes it easier for them to be able to tattle any problem. I explain Mathematics in a way that helps them see where they will apply it.

I focus on developing learner’s ability to answer questions of all levels of difficulty. After ensuring that they have a genuine understanding, we give them a lot of practice that at times we give little help on, surprisingly that’s what learning means. Someone once said, “Teaching is not leaning”, therefore learners need to go through that frustration of not being able to solve problems. This helps them develop problem solving skills and build confidence in themselves.
