About Jack
Aviation and engineering has interested me since my earliest years. With ambitions to become a pilot, I love teaching people about aircraft and their systems, and seeing people share the enthusiasm is fantastic! I started flying at the age of 12, in both gliders and powered aircraft, and my curiosity has never wavered since! I have experience of private flying, and offer support for those who are sitting the UK Private Pilot Licence (PPL) exams.
I have studied mechanical engineering at university for two years now, as an undergraduate, and have consistently scored above 70% in my final exams (First-Class). With a view to inspire and motivate students, I worked as a part-time chemistry and physics mentor in my second year, where I travelled to local secondary schools delivering lessons to GCSE students. Outside of university, I taught engineering and aeronautics to 13-20 year old students at a local air cadet squadron for eight years, from which many students went on to study engineering at university and in the workplace.

I am an undergraduate student with an open and friendly approach to lesson delivery. I have generally given lessons to 13-20 year old students at GCSE and A-Level, but I am keen to deliver lessons to older people who require them.
I aim to make my lessons interactive and engaging, using real life application of theory. My main focus is ensuring that the student is confident and at ease during lessons, giving them every opportunity to discuss the theory and to ask questions.
For the pilots out there, I can also provide support for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) ground school exams for the LAPL and PPL(A) licences, with a particular interest in Principles of Flight, Flight Performance & Planning, and Operational Procedures.
I deliver lessons primarily using structured presentations, with plenty of diagrams and illustrations, although I am highly adaptive in my delivery.
