About Jake
Hi everybody,
I am a recent mechanical engineering graduate from the University of Alabama and wanted to start tutoring math in my spare time. I graduated with a 3.435/4.0 and had straight A's my entire senior year of college. While I am new to tutoring math, I am experienced in teaching kids and young adults in a way that can be understood by anybody. I pride myself on extreme patience and my ability to simplify complex topics. I understand that people learn differently so I like to individualize my approach based on each student and develop them over a period of time.

My teaching approach is one that allows the student to come to the answers on their own. I help guide and can teach the topics when necessary but I've found that the most effective method to learning is when the student is able to come to the answer under their own mind power. I like to be calm and supportive because that is the best way to absorb material in my experience.
