About Serena
I am friendly, approachable, and creative! Our lessons will be tailored towards you, your interests, and your learning styles. I will do my very best to make our lessons impactful, taking extra time to find new techniques and appraoches.
I have been a teaching assistant for Spirit of Math Schools and for social science, essay based courses in the Health Aging and Society department for McMaster University. I have worked as a private tutor, camp coach, and arts and science teacher. I am an AP Scholar, earning highest levels for AP English Literature and Composition exams. My undergraduate degree has been focused on writing, including classes on grammar; I have been published and earned research awards. I am a published creative writer who has won national awards for writing and poetry. I have developed original lesson plan manuals for primary numeracy and literacy with an internship for the Aga Khan Education Board.

We will set goals and work towards them weekly with different lessons that build on each other. I am hands on and do practice and application based teaching, but adapt to different learning styles. I can also work through written work and provide feedback and lessons for writing.
