About Annika
Hi! My name is Annika, and I’m a McMaster University Life Sciences student with a strong academic background in biology and science. I enjoy helping students feel more confident with challenging material by explaining concepts in a clear, patient, and approachable way.
I understand that biology can involve a lot of terminology and detailed processes, so I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind what they are learning rather than simply memorizing information. I focus on making biology easier to understand by breaking complex topics into clear, manageable steps and connecting them to examples that make sense. As a McMaster Life Sciences student, I have experience studying biology at the university level and understand how overwhelming the subject can feel when there is a lot of terminology and content to learn.
A typical lesson starts by identifying the topics the student is struggling with, followed by a clear explanation using diagrams, examples, and guided practice. I also help students develop effective study strategies, including active recall, practice questions, and ways to organize large amounts of information.
My lessons are best suited for middle school and high school students who need help with biology, whether that is understanding class material, completing homework, preparing for tests, or improving their overall confidence in the subject.
