About Alexander
I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at McGill University, and I am passionate about math, physics, and helping students build confidence in challenging subjects. I am especially interested in supporting pre-university students, including those preparing for school exams, IB, AP, SAT/ACT math, and the transition into university-level problem solving.
I was internationally educated, first in the British curriculum and later in the IB Diploma Programme. I completed the IB Diploma with 40/45 points, including a 7 in Physics HL. I also scored 1540 on a real SAT exam, not superscored, with a 790/800 on the math section. These experiences help me understand the pressure of rigorous academic programs and the importance of clear, structured preparation.
As a tutor, I aim to be patient, professional, and approachable. I know that students often struggle not because they are incapable, but because a concept has not yet been explained in a way that truly makes sense to them. My lessons are taught in English only, and my goal is to help students feel more confident, prepared, and independent in their learning.

My lessons are designed to help students build a strong understanding of math and physics, rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures. I focus on clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and identifying the exact points where a student is confused so we can address them efficiently. A typical lesson may include reviewing key concepts, working through examples together, practicing exam-style questions, and developing better study strategies for future assessments.
I tutor students in K-12 standard curriculum, IB, AP, SAT/ACT math preparation, and selected first-year undergraduate math and physics topics. As a hardworking and curious student who completed the IB Diploma with 40/45 points, including a 7 in Physics HL, I understand the demands of rigorous academic programs and how to prepare for them effectively. I also scored 1540 on a real SAT exam, not superscored, with an almost perfect 790/800 on the math section.
I have completed my first year in the challenging and reputable Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program at McGill University, which has further strengthened my mathematical, physical, and analytical problem-solving skills. My goal is to make lessons supportive, structured, and practical, helping students gain confidence, improve their performance, and become more independent learners.
