My teaching method as a tutor is to work at the pace of the student while being patient and encouraging. A typical session will be to first demonstrate what needs to be done and give the student the time to master the technique.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field? *

I have always wanted to pursue a career in a field that would allow me to interact with a wide spectrum of individuals since I finished high school. I therefore decided to develop my knowledge in the area of business and management so as to support activities related to income generation and the development of capacities of individuals and organizations. With good guidance, I had to plan a program of self development, with good mentoring, to acquire the important knowledge needed. Firstly, I did a diploma in Computer Studies, then diploma in Applied Economics at the university level. In order to be bilingual and to acquire other experience I went to a francophone country where I studied French, making me bilingual in English and French. I then obtained a degree in Business Administration , an MBA and an M.Sc. in Organizational Management. This path allowed me to develop interest in various subject areas such as: languages, basic computer skills, statistics, project management, etc.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

As mentioned above, my studies have allowed me to develop interest in various subjects. I am interested in providing tutoring for some of them as outlined below.
    - Basic Computer Skills
I have enjoyed working with computers and solving mathematical equations since I completed high school. The ability to navigate within the computer environment to create documents, using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is very interesting to me. Using other software to monitor and evaluate projects is also very satisfying. With all of these tools, people can create information and transmit them to a wide audience.
    - Academic Tutoring
Many people have difficulties studying. This has to do with a lack of confidence in their abilities or not knowing how to study. Having spent a long time as a student, I know that good study habits can lead to success. I would therefore like to provide input that would allow young and older individuals to make them feel more comfortable with subjects that challenge them academically. Making them successful in achieving their objectives is for me a challenge. The key is not to do things for them, but rather to make them develop the capacity to learn effectively. My students' success help me to improve my knowledge and my tutoring skills.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Tutoring is an activity that builds human resources and skills. It is often related to the subject matter but goes beyond that. It allows me to connect with people and to assist them in a field or area that is a challenge to them. I am able to transfer my knowledge and skills to another person to make her/him achieve preset goals in an given time. It is personally very rewarding for me to see a student being able to use the knowledge received either at school or at work.

For me, tutoring is a method of continuous self-development in the subject matter. At the same time, the experience allows me to develop patience in working with others, trying to pay attention to constraints that may be hindering their progress.

With regards to what makes me a super-prof, I am patient, have long experience as a student, understand how to study, can easily transfer complicated knowledge in an easy manner, and I am accommodating.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, definitely. It is always useful to have someone that provides guidance through one's life. According to my role model and mentor "Everybody needs somebody". He often said to me "The more we surround ourselves with inspiring and motivating people, the better are our chances for success in the future". My role model is my uncle, who at a young age of 27, completed his PhD studies in Mechanical Engineer, was a university professor, a researcher, and worked in various fields such as energy, agriculture, international development, etc. He is very knowledgeable, very hardworking and always willing to learn anything from others and help them succeed in life. He taught me how to be patient with others, hardworking and helpful and not be afraid of challenges.
  • What are your keys to success?

Within the context of tutoring my keys to success are the following:
    - I should have a good rapport with the student, where he/she is not embarrassed to show his/her inadequacies.
    - I should be very patient and understanding to gain the student's confidence.
    - A good relationship should exist but I should be firm to ensure that the student devotes adequate time and does assignments punctually.
    - The student should show improvement at the end of the time of interaction
    - The student should be satisfied that she/he has gained knowledge and skills and use them in their normal activities.
