About Trish
My name is Trish.
I have an honours degree in Maths and Physics awarded by Trinity college. I have spent many years working, in electronics first and then in purchasing and planning for manufacturing industries.
I love learning and teaching people.
I earned 1st class honours for a Diploma in Women's Studies and for a diploma in Purchasing and Materials Management.
All that time I was mentoring people at work with their dissertations.
I was also giving maths grinds for Jumior and Leaving certificate students.
In 2010 I took a break when my twins were born. Now that they have started secondary school, I want to start giving maths grinds again.

About the lesson

Often I find that students having difficulty at this level have usually missed some basic method or rule in their earlier education. Perhaps they didn't learn their tables or don't understand fractions or percentages, or many other possibilities. However, with this bit missing they cannot fly forward.
I work with the student on what parts they find difficult to try to identify the missing piece(s). Once identified and explained with many examples, they can usually go forward alone.
Another reason students can have difficulty is really a confidence thing. They often get the message from society that maths is very difficult. These students need a continual level of support on a regular basis demonstrating to them that they can actually do it themselves.
My classes are usually 60 minutes.
I can do shorter classes if the student wishes.
I can also teach groups of up to 3 students. That way I can charge a lower rate per student. So if you have friends also wanting help, that might work for you.
I have an honours degree in Physics and Maths.
I have given many maths grinds to Junior and Leaving cert students in the past.
This time I am aiming my classes at Junior Cert Ordinary level.
