About Thomas
I am extremely passionate about working with children and believe that a strong, mutually-respectful relationship is fundamental to learning. I exude this passion when I am teaching and can inspire children and help them to achieve their potential. I have seven years of relevant and recent Primary School teaching and Private Tuition experience. I have worked as a classroom teacher for in both Key Stages and have also worked as a Maths leader for a confederation of schools. In this role, I was responsible for the teaching of maths across three Central London Schools and supported teachers' delivery of the subject. My experience also extends to leading residential trips, delivering staff training and inset days and hosting teaching sessions for parents. In addition to this, I have experience of supporting children through 11+ tests, Independent School Entrance Exams, CATs, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning exams as well as 7+ and 8+ tests. I have worked with children from UHNW families and assisted children in gaining acceptance from some of London's, and the surrounding area's, best schools including: Westminster School, The Latymer School, Radnor House, The Hall School Wimbledon, Charterhouse, Cranleigh School, Tiffin School, Camden School for Girls and Tiffin Girls' School. Most Recent Tuition Experience: Morchedi Family: (Sep 2016 - present) I have been working with Sara*, year 6, this academic year to develop her mathematical understanding and creative writing skills. She has made outstanding progress in both areas and was moved into the top stream at her school for both subjects. I also supported Sara* with entrance exam preparation and she recently accepted a place at her first choice school, Camden School for Girls. Khan Family: (Sep 2016 - present) Reni* had just started year 6 when I started tutoring her and she was really struggling with the increased expectations in maths. I have helped her to develop excellent arithmetic skills and she was promoted into her school's top set. Her confidence has increased massively and her parents are exceedingly happy with her progress. She was accepted into Parliament Hill School for Girls. Thomas Family: (Jan 2017 - present) Beatrice* is in year 3 and her first language is French and she was finding creative writing difficult. I have been supporting her development of the English language, looking at expanding her vocabulary and grammar in particular, and she has been making outstanding progress. Masera Family: (Nov 2016 - Mar 2017) Lars* was preparing for his 7+ entrance exams and struggling to consolidate his previous learning. I supported him with both his test technique and also interview preparation and he was offered places at both Westminster Under and Westminster Cathedral Choir School. Turner Family: (Sep 2016 - Feb 2017) I assisted Warwick* in preparation for his 11+ and entrance exams into his family's chosen independent secondary schools. He was successful with his applications to both Portland Place School and The Latymer School and opted to enrol at the latter. Maynard Family: (Sep 2015 - June 2016): I provided private maths tuition for Antonio* throughout his time in year 6 and his progress was excellent. At the end of the year, he accepted a place at his first choice secondary, Westminster School. Georgiadis Family: (Oct 2015 - June 2016) Mika* was finding that his dyslexia was impacting on his writing and reading comprehension skills so I worked with him on improving these in a number of new and innovative ways. He made excellent progress and was accepted into both Radnor House Independent School in Twickenham and Hall School in Wimbledon. Historical Tuition Experience Hakartha Family: (Sep 2014 - June 2015) Suyog* received scholarship offers to Charterhouse and Royal Grammar School in Guildford. Holland Family: (Sep 2014 - June 2015) Alice* received scholarship to Cranleigh School in Surrey. Lamba Family: (Sep 2013 - June 2015): Sasha* received scholarship to Tiffin School, Niko* received scholarship to Tiffin Girls' School in Kingston. Pushparatnam Family: (Sep 2013 - June 2015): Rejeya* and Rabah* both received scholarships to Tiffin Girls' School in Kingston. I am a passionate and hard-working tutor with an excellent knowledge of the national curriculum. Perfect! Super tutor!
We luckily found Tom to tutor our very reluctant 11 year old in Maths. Tom managed to connect to our master procrastinator and lord work avoider and made Maths fun and understandable. He would often say he wasn’t going to do anything in the lesson but always came out in a good mood and actually having done some good maths! Tom is not only very qualified but has a way to talk to kids that is incredibly efficient.

Outcome : Lucas has now gone off to boarding school and we wish we could have sent Tom with him!See more reviews

Mr Crossley tutored our children English during their time at Primary School. He taught both children for 3 crucial years and they made a significant improvement in English in those years. We would highly recommend him.
