About Mutinda
I tutor Maths and Physics at all levels (from primary to university), but specialise in 11+, GCSE and A-levels. I am currently available to tutor all time of the day during the weekdays and weekends. I am highly skilled and knowledgeable in Mathematics, Statistics, Mechanics as well as Physics and currently hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Brunel University London, U.K.) and MSc. in Aerospace Engineering (Brunel University London). My PhD research involved creating a simulation analysis framework for static and dynamic structural analysis of revolutionary class of composites called functionally graded materials based on analytical and numerical mathematical methods. I therefore have computer programming experience under my belt. Maths and Physics may come across as difficult or even intimidating to many students and this, most often than not, may lead the student to feel frustrated, lose confidence, feel demotivated and even dislike the subjects. This eventually has an adverse effect on their general performance and attitude during the course of their studies. In my approach, I uniquely tailor sessions for each student and focus on the understanding of the theory and fundamentals of the subjects from first principles at a pace that will ensure they understand without feeling patronised or intimidated; with particular emphasis on the areas they struggle with. It is equally important to understand when and how to apply these principles correctly, how fundamentals come together and their importance in the real-life world. I also cover a variety of examples and questions, advise on question techniques and exam strategies. Through this bespoke step by step approach, the student’s confidence is improved, they have a positive perspective towards the subjects and are motivated; bringing out the very best of the student. I've had the pleasure of knowing Mutinda for a fairly long time now, and the two words I would use to describe him are intelligent and patient.
You have only to speak to him for a few minutes to quickly realise the deep understanding he has on a variety of topics - whether that be current affairs or his true love, engineering.
