About Tyler
I graduated with a 1st class IBMS accredited bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science (BSc with Hons) from the University of Surrey in 2017. My interests in medical science led me to work in an NHS hospital as a Medical Microbiologist for two years, while simultaneously pursuing the completion of a biomedical scientist training portfolio. I inevitably decided that I enjoyed the academic route more and left the NHS to read for a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine. Here I gained a wealth of expertise in a range of subjects covering immuno-oncology, immunology, the bacterial microbiome, oncology, gene expression and bioinformatics; whilst also working as a Research Assistant and contributing to several academic projects. My current position is working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London (Ranked 4th in the UK for research excellence). Being surrounded by excellence has provided me with several opportunities to showcase my knowledge and skills, as such I have published several peer-reviewed scientific papers, presented my work both nationally (Norwich, Surrey, London) and internationally (USA, Canada) in both poster and oral presentations. Finally, I received several awards during my time at university, including the coveted "STARS" Certificate, which recognizes students in the top 5% of their class (of 340 people).
I enjoy running/challenges having completed the 44km London Marathon and 56km Cotswold ultra-Challenge in 2023, helping to raise a total of over £5,000 for charity. I'm a proud member of both the "Topic Of Cancer" and "Prostate Project" charities, which help raise cancer awareness and provide support for people suffering with this disease. During my 4 years at university, I was the Vice President of the Medical Society, a student mentor and student ambassador. In my free time I play guitar (Grade 8) and play competitive chess (tactically ELO 2500).

Definitely recommend Tyler as a tutor! Tyler has been a massive help with my A-level maths and physics. He breaks down difficult topics and explains them in different ways until they make sense to me. I feel comfortable asking questions because he is always encouraging, and the lessons are always fun. I feel much more confident and prepared for my exams after receiving tutoring from Tyler.
I really enjoyed my lessons with Tyler. He makes science engaging and explains difficult ideas in a clear, straightforward way without ever making you feel rushed. He quickly adjusted the lessons to suit my level and was always happy to go over anything I found challenging. Friendly, patient and clearly very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him!
