About Jacob

My name is Jacob Mao and I am an enthusiastic teacher who has had 4 years' worth of experience.

I completed my HSC in 2025. I achieved a 97.15 ATAR, 91/100 in Maths Advanced and 90/100 in Chemistry

I find that teaching is one of the most fulfilling and exciting experiences of life as you not only get to pass on knowledge that you worked so hard to get yourself, but also pass on the passion that you have for the specific subjects you teach. It becomes especially exciting when your students achieve success since you played a part in pushing someone to improve or possibly even fulfill a dream.

Teaching, has therefore, become a great passion of mine and I am excited to pass down my knowledge and my excitement for the subjects that I have listed to any future students!

About the lesson

I am willing to provide Maths lessons up to a Year 10 level and Chemistry lessons up to the HSC.

I have been teaching students specifically piano since 2022 (4 years). As a result, I have met all types of students of different skill levels and personalities and am able to cater individually to each. This includes a complete beginner whom I taught to sit her first ever music performance within a year and a student whom I helped to achieve Credit and Honour awards in the Grade 3-5 AMEB Examinations.

I like to take a fun approach to teaching, such as breaking harder concepts down into creative and possibly humorous ways to make it easier for students to remember. However, at the same time, I prioritise hard work and effort and will focus extensively on providing practise questions through collating ones online and making some of my own.

Typical lesson lengths can range from an hour to two hours. I am flexible to fit any requirements a student needs and am willing to provide my own honest opinion as to how long a student should spend with me.
