About Joshua
I am a passionate mathematics student currently pursuing an MSc in Mathematics at the University of Oxford, with a strong academic background and a genuine interest in helping others succeed. I want to teach because I enjoy making difficult ideas more accessible and seeing students grow in confidence and ability.
Having supported first-year university students as a Teaching Assistant, I understand the challenges learners face and how to overcome them. I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their understanding, and achieving their full potential in mathematics.

I take a structured, student-focused approach to tutoring, aiming to build deep understanding rather than rote memorisation. I break down complex ideas into clear steps, then reinforce learning through worked examples and guided problem-solving. Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, with a focus on exam technique, confidence, and independent thinking.
Sessions typically last between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the student’s goals, with 1-hour lessons being most common.
I am currently an MSc Mathematical Modelling & Scientific Computing student at the University of Oxford, and have experience as a Teaching Assistant for first-year university mathematics students.
I teach up to A-Level Mathematics, supporting a wide range of abilities, from those needing foundational help to students aiming for top grades.
