About Michael

I am a PhD Mathematics student at Bristol University who achieved a first in my Masters from Warwick University. I went to a Welsh state school, and one of my aims as a tutor is to help students who do not have as much access to tailored support as private school students. When preparing for the STEP entrance exam, the teachers in my school couldn't help me with the questions and I felt lost having to learn all the material myself. I would love to ensure other students do not have the same experience.

I am also very keen to support A level students.

About the lesson

My greatest strength as a tutor is explaining complicated ideas in a simple way that is easy to understand. The student will choose what their areas of weakness are, and we we will work together first to get a broad idea of how the technique works, and then apply it to some problems of suitable difficulty. Our lessons will last an hour in general, but I am flexible.

I have had years of experience teaching mathematics classes at a university level during my PhD. In preparation for this I received training from the university in teaching mathematics. I have also acted as a supervisor for 10 first year maths students, where I marked their work, organised tutorials and gave them personal feedback.

My lessons are suitable for A level students and above, though I am flexible to helping GCSE students.
