About Jocelyn

I’ve always loved the structure and beauty of math, and I work hard to make that passion come alive in my classroom. My teaching style is patient and adaptive—I tailor lessons to meet each student’s unique needs and learning style, making sure no one is left behind. I believe in creating a positive, engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting with ideas, and learning from their mistakes. Whether it’s through group work, discussions, or hands-on activities, I aim to make math feel relevant, engaging, and fun. I also bring in real-world applications, showing how math is used in everything from designing video games to analyzing financial markets. I want my students to understand that math is not just something to get through—it’s a powerful tool they can use to better understand the world and solve everyday problems. At the end of the course, I want students to feel confident in their math skills, knowing they can tackle any problem that comes their way. Whether they go on to study more advanced topics or just apply math in their daily lives, I hope they walk away with the skills and mindset to approach challenges with confidence.

About the lesson

Math is everywhere—it’s in the patterns we see, the designs we create, and the problems we solve every day. My goal is to help students understand that math isn’t just about solving equations or memorizing formulas; it’s about developing a way of thinking that helps you understand and navigate the world.

I break down complex mathematical concepts into manageable, understandable pieces. Whether it’s algebra, calculus, or geometry, I make sure students not only know how to solve problems but also understand the reasoning behind the steps. I believe understanding the "why" is just as important as knowing the "how" because it helps students build confidence in their ability to tackle any math problem.

Real-world examples are a huge part of my lessons. I show how math is used in everything from architecture and engineering to economics and data analysis. I want students to see that math isn’t just a subject in school—it’s a tool they can use to solve real problems in their personal and professional lives.

Math can feel intimidating at times, but I strive to create an environment where students feel safe to explore, ask questions, and even make mistakes. I believe that mistakes are part of the learning process, and I make sure that every student feels supported as they work through challenges and grow in their mathematical abilities.
