About Ioannis
I’m a Mathematics graduate from the University of Groningen and I’m currently based in Dublin, where I’m studying for a Master’s in Statistical Data Science at UCD.
After spending several years studying math at university, I’ve become used to breaking difficult problems into smaller steps and trying to understand why something works rather than just applying a method blindly. That is the approach I want to bring to tutoring as well.
I know math can become frustrating when a few topics haven’t properly clicked. Once that happens, new material can start to feel much more difficult than it actually is. I enjoy finding where that gap is and working through it without making the student feel judged for not knowing something.
I’m patient and fairly relaxed in the way I teach. I’d rather have a student stop me five times and ask questions than pretend they understand and leave the lesson still confused.
Outside math, I’m very into training and sport. I’ve spent years lifting, kickboxing and swimming, and I think the same basic idea applies to learning math: improvement comes from consistent practice, fixing mistakes and gradually tackling harder problems.

I try to make math feel much less intimidating by focusing on understanding rather than memorizing a list of formulas.
At the beginning, I like to figure out what the student is comfortable with and where things start to become confusing. Sometimes the problem is the current topic, but often there is a small gap from an earlier topic that makes everything afterward seem much harder.
From there, we work through examples together and gradually move towards the student solving questions independently. I’m happy to slow things down and go back to the basics when necessary rather than rushing through material.
Lessons can focus on whatever the student needs most: keeping up with school, homework, filling gaps in understanding, revising particular topics or preparing for exams.
I offer math grinds for Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert students, as well as GCSE, IGCSE and O-Level students. Lessons are available in English or Greek and can be done in person in Dublin or online.
