About 之夢
I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a dual degree in applied mathematics and linguistics. While my degree is in applied mathematics per se, I took coursework from a vast variety of mathematical subdisciplines from logic to algebraic topology at various difficulty levels, ranging from the introductory to the graduate level. Previously, I have worked as a course reader for a mathematics course for physical science majors, where I gave feedback on homework and graded exams. As such, I am comfortable teaching and explaining material to people from all sorts of mathematical backgrounds.

I find it important to teach in a way that fosters critical thinking and creative problem solving. I will work with the student to zero in on the source of their confusion and help them improve on this. I think that it is very important for students to develop the skills to solve novel problems on their own, so I will guide them by such - for instance, by working on an instructive example, or by giving them certain ideas to ponder, etc. rather than by giving the answers outright. As the adage says, 'give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for life.'
I believe that teaching is a highly cooperative process. I will work closely with the student, adjusting my teaching styles and topics of focus based on their feedback and interests.
