About Ruth
I am a second-year university student studying maths and physics, with my favourite topics being mechanics, calculus, quantum physics and astrophysics. My passion for these subjects was fuelled when taught by those who clearly shared my curiosity concerning how to describe our universe precisely and why it works. I want to teach because, from this experience, I understand how having a teacher who is passionate about their subject can inspire students to pursue what it is that interests them.
I am also very active and love getting out for a run and going to the gym. Balancing this with academics can be challenging, but through my tutoring I want to help students study and revise efficiently and effectively, so they can pursue their hobbies and interests while developing their academic passion and performance.

Lessons are typically 1 hour in duration. They are aimed at students in Years 10-13 who are passionate about maths and/or physics looking to deepen their understanding and fuel their enthusiasm for these subjects. Having attained eleven grade 9s at GCSE and four A*s at A level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry), I understand what it takes to achieve at these stages and am well placed to guide students to maximise their academic potential.
My approach to tutoring focuses on nurturing deeper understanding in maths and physics through clear explanations of challenging concepts. This is reinforced by providing guidance on subject-specific revision strategies, centred on understanding and developing critical problem-solving skills. Dedicated practice with proven tips and techniques for mastering the exam are crucial for succeeding at GCSE and A level, so my tutoring approach gives this area significant attention.
