About Christopher
I am a final year PhD student in theoretical physics at the University of Manchester. I hold a master's degree in the same discipline, where I graduated with an 89% average. Before university I had a strong academic track record: finishing college with almost straight A*'s in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry (achieving the highest further maths grade at my school), and GCSE with a distinction in additional maths and almost straight A*'s elsewhere (ranking 2nd in the country for maths which I sat a year early). All of this means I have great academic and exam experience which I am hoping to pass onto my tutees.
I began teaching at A-Level, where I lead my college's physics society, exploring advanced concepts in maths and physics beyond the school curriculum in engaging ways with Secondary and AS-Level students. Throughout my Master's degree I tutored maths and physics from GCSE to first-year university level. Currently, I am a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) at my university and aid in teaching multiple 2nd and 3rd year university physics modules.
Like a lot of students, I really struggled with maths at school. I was lucky enough to have a great teacher, who understood that each student needed to be treated as an individual. Now, as a tutor myself, I hope to do the same for my students. I try to keep lessons fun and engaging, tailoring them to the tutee's needs. I believe the best way to learn is through doing, and I hope to teach the concepts at a fundamental level, so that students can tackle any problem they might face, rather than simply learning to answer exam questions. From my years of tutoring and studying I have a plethora of resources from notes to exam question banks that will be shared with students. In addition I run a 24-hour forum for students to post and answer questions anytime of day, so their learning extends beyond the sessions.

Lessons are conducted online using Zoom. GCSE and A-Level lessons are uniquely tailored and follow the syllabus of each student. I take a relaxed and open approach to teaching, which creates a learning environment the student is comfortable in, allowing for engaging and interactive lessons. There is no such thing as a stupid question, and I encourage students to question me whenever they do not understand.

Chris is a great maths and physics tutor. Worked with him for a few months on GCSE maths and physics. I found these subjects really difficult when I started but Chris made them so easy.
